Things are complicated right now, there’s a lot of uncertainty, and cost cutting is a very real issue New Zealand businesses are facing. Changes are happening rapidly, and we’re being updated with new advice daily. There’s a lot to consider and a lot of administrative tasks to complete as you prepare your business to weather the storm. This is where we would like to help. We can help take the load off by completing forms, negotiating payment plans and communicating with government agencies on your behalf. That’s what we do best after all.
 
As you may know the Government is fronting a $9.3 billion support package. Included within the package is a wage subsidy. If you're an employer, contractor, sole trader or self-employed, you may qualify to get the COVID-19 wage subsidy.
 
There are two parts:
 
Wage Subsidy: if your business has experienced a minimum 30% decline in actual or predicted revenue over the period of a month - when compared with the same month last year, and that decline is related to COVID-19 .  There is no limit on the number of staff involved or the wage amount that can be requested. 
 
Leave Payment: if you have staff who need to self-isolate (and are registered with Healthline) or have actually tested positive for the virus.  Also, if staff are caring for dependents who are required to self-isolate or who are sick with COVID-19.  Payments are typically for 2 weeks but depending on circumstances, you can reapply and there is no limit on the number of times you apply or for how many staff.
 
The payments involved are as follows: 
 
$585.80 to a person working 20 hours or more per week
$350.00 to a person working less than 20 hours per week.
 
The application process is not difficult however it is something else you need to do.  Please note that the Government reserves the right to audit payments which we do believe may happen given the large sums of money involved.

With respect to your ACC levies, your next invoices are not due until July, so we have a wee bit of time.  Closer to July we will reach out again and chat about your situation and whether we need to put a plan in place with ACC to manage the levies (firstly to make sure the amount is actually correct and secondly whether we need suitable payment plans put in place).
