Learn how to rig and operate a truck loader crane in various scenarios. Truck loader cranes are also called truck-mounted cranes, HIABs, crane trucks and truck cranes. Do the theory online, then follow our detailed practical checklist to obtain your truck crane certificate at your workplace using your own equipment.

Refreshers:

Perfect for a three-yearly refresher for experienced operators. The assessment can be conducted at your workplace using your own equipment.

Unit standards 16617 and 30072

It's not a legal requirement to hold these unit standards. This is non-unit standard course. If you would like to do the unit standards, please let us know and we will link you with our training partners - TR Driver Training.

If you already have the unit standards, you don't need to repeat them and you can use this course as a refresher.

What will you learn in this course?

After taking this course, you will know how to:

  • Conduct a pre-operation crane assessment and function check

  • Evaluate a site for hazards and draw up a lift plan

  • Create a safe lifting area

  • Choose rigging equipment (slings, chains, wire ropes, shackles)

  • Lift, move and place regular loads

  • Stow and secure a crane for road transport
